12th - 15th srpna 2026 - This summer is marked by really big cynological events within driving distance of the Czech Republic, which is usually quite a long way from similar cynological events. The already mentioned World Show held in Bologna (IT) or the irregularly held Greyhound Festival in Germany has been supplemented by another event that is held every four years and this year the Czech Republic was chosen as the host.
The organization of this very interesting event in the world of whippets was undertaken by the Czech Whippet Club under the leadership of Veronika Chrpová (CHS Z Úplňku) and her organizational team. In addition to two traditional exhibitions, the event also included a two-day marathon of seminars, where experts in their fields presented their lectures on various topics related to whippet breeding, sport and health.
It is an unwritten rule that when there is an event of this type that I would very much like to attend, my workload always gets in the way and I can't go. Fortunately, there was the option of online access to lectures, which I took advantage of. At the congress and at the Baya Nobles shows, the team was successfully represented by Zorka, who was my eyes and ears at the event. She took our star Thor with her and we were very much looking forward to what two amazing judges from the country of origin of the breed, Mrs. Jo Whitehead (CHS Citycroft) and Mr. Russell Sykes (CH Veredon), would say about him. Tori did not disappoint again and shone in the honor class on both days. 95 whippets were entered on Friday and 96 on Saturday at the shows.
Above are the photos of the opinions of both judges, which do not need any further comments! I am very proud of Thor. The overall summary of both shows is as follows:
T O R I - 2 x Exc.1, 2 x Best Dog of honor class, 2 x Best in Show of honor class and BOS on Saturday as well.
I am also very happy with our offspring, Thor's sister - Eternal Saga Baya Nobles. She participated in shows at the Whippet Congress in a crowded and very difficult open class, where both English judges praised her very well. Saga (Stormi) showed herself in very great form, for which I thank the owner and my friend Petra very much. Here are the results:
S A G A - 14.8. judge: Russell Sykes Exc.2 /8, Res. CAC and beautiful critique!!!
S A G A - 15.8. judge: Jo Whitehead Exc. /9 z and nice critique!!!
We also enjoyed a handling lesson with breeder and judge Steph Marston-Pollock (CH Falconcrag), who dedicated a bit of her time to Zorka and Thor and showed them what and how to improve their performance. This was captured in the photo below. Thor was praised for his excellent cooperation.
What to say in conclusion. A truly beautiful event in the grounds of the beautiful castle in Valtice. A very interesting accompanying program and seminars. It is all the more regrettable that quite a few European breeders of this wonderful breed showed up at the event. The next year, the ninth, will be held in the breed's homeland in Great Britain.
