Sighthound Festival Donaueschingen (DE)

8^th and 9^th August 2026 - The Sighthound Festival Donaueschingen in Germany is a big deal in the sighthound world. One of the largest sighthound shows in Europe, it is a very prestigious event that every owner or breeder of one of the sighthound breeds of FCI Group X or V wants to attend. Unfortunately, the show is not held every year, which is why we were even more motivated to participate this year.

Zorka went to Donaueschingen with the boys' part of the Baya Nobles team, namely Thor and Cusco. Expectations were not high in such a large competition, and we were even more pleasantly surprised by the success of our whippet boys with both judges, who this year were two ladies. Ladies who are considered true experts on the whippet breed in the greyhound world. On the first day of the show, the boys were judged by Mrs. Yacoby-Wright Lynn (CHS Cobyco) from Great Britain, and on the second day, Mrs. Sakson Sharon from the USA judged the best whippet-dog. The boys competed in crowded classes, Cusco in the intermediate and Thor in the open class. It was truly incredible that both boys stood on the podium on both days and were among the four best dogs in their classes.

It was another unforgettable, very hot weekend that will resonate with us for a long time. Many thanks to Zorka for deciding to take the boys to Germany, even though the weather was absolutely crazy and the temperatures at the show venue hit 40°C both days. And here are the results:

Two months before this show, the World Dog Show took place in Bologna, Italy. Zorka decided to go to the "world show" with Thor and Gali and combine this event with a short vacation in Italy and taking some pose photos with Martina Corado, a renowned Italian "dog" photographer.

There is no point in writing about the participation and results at this show. Some judges are simply not worth my time writing about how "amazingly" they judge and give out titles according to the opposite side of the leash. WDS Bolognia and associated shows were one big clownery and a parade of the chosen ones from the side of the whippet judges.
