28th September 2025 - The regional Hubert show in Kelč - Provodovice is always well organized, a small show in a very friendly spirit. I only entered our two youngsters for it as part of their training for their future show career. Both Cusco and Mesa didn't rush into the ring much, they could have done with a show in motion, but that stupid show table was a big disaster. It was their second show and they were probably more afraid of the ride than at the first. Well, we have to work on that a lot.
The Whippets were judged by Slovak judge Vlastislav Vojtek, an expert on the whippet breed and breeder (CHS Gandamak). He liked both youngsters, although he did not forgive himself for commenting on Cusco's height and awarded both of them a VN1 (very promising). In the mutual duel for advancement to the final competitions, Mesa won this time. Given that Zorka, who would have handled Cusco, was not with us, a situation arose during the mutual judging for advancement when Cusco's owner, my friend Honza, had to run into the round with Cusco himself and thus experienced his show debut, which was so fast and unexpected that he did not even have time to protest. It is a great pity that this situation was not immortalized in a photo or recording.
In the final ring for the best puppy of the entire show, an incredible number of puppies entered. Mesa and I just ran around the ring, unfortunately we were not selected into the final five of the best puppies. But even so, it was a huge experience for Mesa, there were a lot of dogs of different breeds around, the noise of music and comments in the microphone. She was afraid, not that she wasn't, but she stood bravely and watched what was happening around.
